Successful Marketing: Google AdSense & AdWords

The 2nd part of this series will focus on generating money and promoting your new site with advertisements.

Google is a wonderful tool for new site owners. You will want to create an AdSense & AdWords account right away. I will show you the differences below and they are very easy to set-up and use.

BeSecure Networks can handle development of your website and the marketing/branding that goes along with it. At anytime if you have any questions following our advise just give us a call, at: 717-620-9295 or email: info@besecurenetworks.com

AdSense: This is a service by Google that places ads on relevant google searches and/or on affiliate sites for your new website. You create your ad however you wish and you decide where you want it to be run. You can also break it down by demographic and location. For a local business such as ours we limit our AdSense to the 15 miles around our zip code. You can set this up however you wish and if you do a quick search on google you should be able to find a free $50 credit to start with. You can also state age limits or if you want it on just google searches and or affiliates as well. You will bid on "keywords" such as pizza, tires, computer, etc. The more common the word the more expensive it will be. Some can be over $10 for each click but most are under $1.00 per click. If you ever do a search on google, these are the ads on the far right side of the page. The higher you bid the higher your placement towards the top you will be. You are only charged if they click on your ad so it is a very good idea to include your phone number on the 2nd or 3rd line of your ad. This way if a potential customer sees your ad and just calls without clicking, you don't pay for it. You can also set a daily budget or limits on amount spent on this service.

AdWords: This is a service from Google where you will collect money by placing ads on your site. It's usually not much and you can expect usually around 100-1,000 views per click and around $.10-$1.00 on average for each click. If your website takes off then this can become a small but good source of revenue. Just don't expect to get rich overnight from it. A good idea is to you AdWords to come up with key words that you will want to use for your own site. I like to see what they recommend for competitor sites and use these keywords for my own site in AdSense.

Each service has graphs and statistics for almost everything. AdWords is not for everyone. A professional site will not have many or any advertisements. This will be up to you based on what you are comfortable with. Remember that no one really likes ads so if they clutter up your site you may be turning away customers. If you do go with ads make sure they are relevant. It is proven to be more profitable that way but I don't have exact figures on this.

This is just a basic understanding of the two services. If you have questions setting them up you can email me and I will be happy to help you with your site as well.

The next post will be on Google Analytics. Stay tuned, this is how you track visitors to your website which we will let you know how to profit from!

Successful Marketing: Business Branding on the Web

1st in a series on how to Market your Company on the Internet: The first one I am going to talk about today is on-line company branding and it's free!

People ask all the time where they should start on the web to let others know about their business. There are many steps that you will need to take and I will show you how these methods are very successful, cost effective, and produce the best return on your investment of time and money.

Portraying your company to the public on-line can be scary at first but it's very easy to display a successful image if you offer a strong product and/or service and believe in it as well. To start it will take some computer skill and a few hours to set-up but no money needed!

At a minimum you need to start utilizing websites on-line such as:Facebook.com, Twitter.com, and Linkedin.com. There are others as well but start with these. These sites will help you reach out to an audience of people that will be connected to your products/service as soon as you let them know about them. What other service lets you communicate directly with your clients and potential customer base when new products and/or services are available for free? You need to get others talking about your products/services and control what they are saying about them. This is a fast and easy way to accomplish this and a must first step. You want clients to become a fan and spread the word for you on how great your company is. Soon enough people with be sharing your products and services with others and new revenue is generated!

It's also becoming clear that customers are linking companies with profiles on these sites as "up-and-coming" or "with the times" so to speak. You want all clients and potential customers thinking of your company in this light.

It may start out small at first but you will be amazed at how quickly it actually catches on and new clients start stepping forward asking questions about your company and what you have to offer them. This is free marketing and an absolute must for any company looking for new clients!
